Charming, abrasive, and provocative, celebrated photographer David Bailey has created some of the most iconic portraits of the great and good over the past 50 years. Supermodels, actors, musicians, artists and even gangsters have been captured by Bailey in his uniquely striped back, minimal style of portraiture. In a new exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery, called Stardust, Bailey has curated and assembled a diverse choice from his impressive back catalogue. He gave art historian Tim Marlow an exclusive tour as final touches were being put to the exhibition, an expansive collection of some 300 images.
